Chemical Biology Symposium 2022

Friday, October 21 - 4PM & Saturday, October 22

We invite all interested scientists to attend and participate in the Chemical Biology Symposium! 

We are excited to announce the inaugural KU Chemical Biology Symposium  being conducted as a joint effort between the NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence in Chemical Biology of Infectious Disease (CoBRE CBID), the NIH-sponsored Dynamic Aspects of Chemical Biology Graduate Student Training program (DACB), and the Higuchi Biosciences Center.  DACB graduate students and CBID investigators will join regional scientists and invited speakers to share research associated with Chemical Biology on Oct 21st and 22nd.

The symposium will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct 21st at the Oread Hotel.  Opening comments will be followed by DACB graduate student presentations and the keynote presentation by Dr. Nozomi Ando (Cornell University). 

Events on Saturday, Oct 22nd will be at the School of Pharmacy and will include a presentation by Dr. Jimmy Ballard (University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center).  CBID scientists along with other selected scientists will also present throughout the program on Saturday, with a poster session to conclude the symposium.

If you are interested in presenting (oral or poster), please complete the presentation request form (oral presentation) by Sept 2nd  or the abstract submission form (poster presentation) by Sept 30th.  Due to space limits, we may need to close registration prior to this date - so please, register early.

All attendees need to register by Sept 30th.


KU Chapter: Great Plains Biomaterials Day 2022

Friday, November 4, 9AM -4 PM

The KU chapter of the Society for Biomaterials is hosting our annual Great Plains Biomaterials Day on Friday, November 4th. Our goal is to reach individuals across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Iowa who are interested in biomaterials research and promoting the diffusion of new ideas across the great plains. Please help us in spreading the word to any students, trainees, research assistants, faculty, or any other individuals who you think would be interested in attending. We are currently accepting abstract submissions for poster presentations and rapid-fire talks for those interested in sharing their research. Abstracts are due September 2nd.

Undergraduate Research Awards

Deadline: October 28

Undergraduate Research Awards (UGRAs) are $1,000 scholarships provided to undergraduate students pursuing original research or creative projects under the general guidance of a research mentor.
