Biography

Carly Harris-Newman (they/she) is an academic advisor for Jayhawk Academic Advising working with honors students studying health and behavioral sciences. They attended KU for their undergraduate career, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in addition to the University Honors Program. During their undergraduate time, they worked with KU Student Housing, Tutoring Services, and the Kansas Algebra Program, and held an officer position with Omega Phi Alpha National Service Sorority; these experiences led to a passion for higher education. In addition to their role as an advisor, they are also a graduate student at KU pursuing a Master of Science in Education degree in Higher Education Administration. Outside of school and work, Carly is an avid crocheter and collector of books (though actually working through their TBR list is another story).
