Surgical Pathology Technician opening

We currently have a job opening for a surgical pathology technician at the University of Kansas Health System.  We are looking for applicants with a Bachelor's Degree in a biological science, healthcare or related field required.  New graduates are welcome to apply!  These are entry level positions in the medical field and many of our technicians who do this job will move on to more advanced careers in medicine (medical school, PA school, grad school…. etc) after a few years.   Please email bmontgomery@kumc.edu if you have any questions about the position.

Surgical Pathology Technicians receive and accession all specimens for surgical pathology. They perform gross examinations of biopsies and small surgical tissue specimens and cut frozen section slides for microscopic examination. They must have a basic understanding and knowledge of human anatomy/physiology and medical terminology, especially tissue part types. Surgical Pathology Technicians must stay calm and organized in a high stress, fast paced environment and have the ability to prioritize their work. Required AA/BS degree with a minimum of 30 hours in biology, chemistry and math.
